What constitutes small and what constitutes large is by no means clearly defined: from the opening concert with Peter Ablinger and Clara Iannotta, Wien Modern treads along a path of reduced lines and surfaces, via composers such as Klaus Lang and Josef Matthias Hauer, as well as 21 world premieres inside the piano, all the way to to the festival’s close. And in the closing days of the festival, composer Mark Andre, invites you to explore undreamt of spaces and takes you on a journey into spectacular microscopic landscapes, «in the moment before all sounds have faded». Over 10 evenings, the «Minimal Night Music» series takes as its theme reduction in all its forms, from quiet to loud. And in Dschungel Wien, you can literally learn how to hear grass grow.
