»For a minimalistic evening such as this, the festive and ceremonial key of E-flat Major should feel like material that has been ‹out-partied›, the hushed after-party feeling following a celebration of excess. In preparing the piano with glasses and light bulbs (different combinations in each of the pieces), the sound has something end-of-party about it, something overplayed. At the same time, it is thin like a harpsichord, but amplified; vibrating softly to rattling noisily, and yet crystal clear at the same time. The way the piano has been prepared forces the performer to play transparently and minimalistically as if they were playing through glass. My intention is give the key of E-flat Major a concrete form, so that you can see it, taste it and experience it socially. As a color, as a flavor, (using the baroque theory of keys it could be described as having the flavor of orange and cinnamon), as the emblem of the emptied wine or cocktail glass, as lavish that can be literally handed out to the audience.« (Han-Gyeol Lie)
