»Most of the works in this concert portrait belong to the early creative period of Friedrich Cerha. But you can still recognize that the young composer, starting out from neo-classical influences, has embarked upon a journey. The first and third sonatas for violin and piano were written within a period of only eight years, but their tonal language is very different. One of the reasons for this is Cerha’s sojourn in Darmstadt, which was then the centre of the avant-garde. Works such as the Six Pieces for Solo Violin use a tonal language that one associates with the late Cerha: centrifugal melodic movements that unfold organically and develop their power and timbral sensuality from a simple line to webs of sound.« (Alejandro del Valle-Lattanzio)
