»The piece is an attempt to overstep finiteness. An open string is bowed, with the individual overtones gradually coming into play with the root note and hovering together in space. Then the string is »depressed«, behaving like a covered pipe. An interval of a ninth below the root note sounds. Subharmonics come into play that seem to defy the laws of physics, sounding almost like magic. The bass is extended by an additional octiave to make it sound like an octobass, stretching down into the subcontraoctave.« (Thomas Stempkowski)
