Minimal Night Music. SFIEMA

»In the history books Niblock is the forgotten Minimalist. That’s as maybe: no one ever said the history books were infallible anyway.« The composition »A Cage of Stars« by the New York-born experimental pioneer Phill Niblock is performed by its dedicatee, harpist Rhodri Davies. Brought together in 2005 with the New London Silence by Clive Bell, the Welshman is himself regarded as a key voice in the music of reduction. With his own series of compositions, Davis also pushes his harp into the region of maximalism. For SFIEMA personally, so to speak, Herbert Lacina und Mia Zabelka will attune your ears in their small but exquisite local to two more pioneers of fine listening – Morton Feldman and Pauline Oliveros.
